A New Solution

Our web platform combines a complete set of a private company’s shareholder records with powerful analytical tools and management reports. The toolset supports due diligence on the cap table, “what-if” analysis of the capital structure and reporting options that benefit management, the board and the recruiting process.

Why Create a New Cap Table Toolset?

Most private companies use home-grown spreadsheets to track and maintain ownership records, which may also be maintained by investors, the company’s law firm or its accountants. During a liquidity event, reconciliation of the ownership records is time-consuming and prone to error.

CapControls was born from such experience. Co-founders Joe Maxwell and Charles Blankenship previously built Investment Scorecard, an investment performance reporting company. After growing the company for fourteen years and earning the trust of many of the nation’s leading banks, investment firms, and trust departments, Maxwell and Blankenship sold the company to Informa Plc in 2007.

The sale taught Maxwell and Blankenship about the many complex requirements for managing shareholder records and reconfirmed the importance of data integrity and security.
